Steelman Finish
The 2020 Race Recap If you’re a race enthusiast like Andrew, 2020 was the race season that almost wasn’t.  Not that I’m a huge fan of racing myself, but I occasionally partake in a 5k or virtual triathlon and duathlon if Andrew “accidentally” signs me up.  The one thing I do enjoy about race season (other than the nice weather) is that we get to travel to places we haven’t visited in years or have never been to.  In 2020, I found Andrew an off-road triathlon (and myself a 5k) in PA and a cross race up in CT – which gave us a chance to visit 14 breweries between the two races.  Race photos at the bottom! The 5k What can only be described as probably my worst idea ever, I actually signed myself up for the Steelman “Off Road Endurance Festival” 5k.  The 5k that didn’t look too […]

Race Recap

Yergey Brewing 1
Nazareth No race weekend can be complete without visiting a few new breweries.  Luckily, our triathlon weekend trip was dotted with breweries we’ve never been to before.  A bit out of the way, Birthright Brewing Company of Nazareth, PA was our first stop.  The small brewery has several beers, hard seltzers and other brewery made alcoholic beverages like Jalapeno Pineapple Lemonade available.  The food menu was top notch and we highly recommend the beer cheese pretzel.  We were unfamiliar with Birthright, so we were blown away by the beer offering.  The amount of interesting quality brews could have been an all day affair and the locals are super lucky to get beers like the Grape Ooh-Yeah! and Cream Soda Jerk.  Birthright Brewing is a must visit stop. Bethlehem A bit closer 78 is Bethlehem, PA; a small town brewery hub with our three next stops.  Bethlehem is a quaint small […]

2020 Triathlon Weekend Beer Recap

Argilla Brewing Co. at Pietro’s Pizza (Newark, DE) Technically our first stop of our Delaware trip was really the last stop of our DC trip. But for convenience sake I’m going to include it in this post. We stopped at Argilla Brewing Co. at Pietro’s Pizza in Newark, DE for some dinner, drinks and to meet up with our friends (and part time guest beerventureres) Nate and Dani. We ordered a couple of pies for the table- ours was the Brewer’s Guild Pie which included chicken, apples, onions, mozzerella and BBQ chipotle sauce. YUM! A little pricey, but a lot of delicious. After a weekend of beer, we decided to split our flight and chose Boogsley’s Pumpkin Ale, Zossimov Imperial Stout, Devil in Nylon Hose Belgian Strong, Sweet Sweetbacks Badass Wheat and Blood Orange Whipped Wit. In a surprising change of pace, we agreed on one beer being the favorite: […]

Delaware and Pennsylvania Beerventures

The problem with traveling on and around any beautiful weekend in the tri-state area is that you’re always met with frustrating levels of traffic. Luckily, various breweries are dotted far enough away from major highways all across the country if you want to dodge the frustration and don’t mind the scenic back roads. Irving Cliff, Here & Now and Buck Hill just so happened to be perfectly in the middle of no-where on the way back home after a short trip upstate. Irving Cliff (Honesdale, PA) The first of two breweries in Honesdale, PA that we stopped at was Irving Cliff. The exterior is a bit misleading because the place looks a bit like a mechanics at a glance but there is now mistaking the huge, well-crafted bar on the inside. It was going to be a bit of a rush day, so we quickly put in an order of […]
