DIY Bartending with Pour My Beer

Pour My Beer

Ok, now that we baited you in with a puppy let’s talk about pouring your own beer.

Have you ever wished you could just self-serve your own beverages at your favorite crowded bar? Or maybe you just want to sample all the things, but “that beer is only served in a pint, sorry”.  Well friends you’re in luck.  The folks at Pour My Beer have you covered with their high efficiency, self-pouring beverage walls that can (and do) contain all the things.

The Pour My Beer beverage walls are completely liquid agnostic and may contain wines, meads, cocktails and of course – BEER!  You can find these awesome tap walls at various locations such as Dave & Busters, Hilton Hotels, Stumpy’s Hatchet Houses, and even Whole Foods!  Another aspect we really like about these self-serving bars is that kegs are way more environmentally friendly than bottles and cans!

So – How do these walls work?

Step 1: Load up a Pour My Beer card at the bar, restaurant, arcade, brewery (etc.).
Step 2: Find what you want to drink.
Step 3: Pour as much as the glass can hold or as many ounces as you want.
Step 4: Enjoy your freshly poured beverage!
Step 4.5: Grab a clean glass, repeat steps 1-4 until you need to reload your card.

Our Austin trip had two awesome stops which housed these magical walls; OZ Tap House and Wanderlust Wine Co.

OZ Tap House

If you’re headed out towards Lake Travis (which is technically part of the Colorado River) there is a great lunch and/or dinner stop with one of these marvelous Pour My Beer tap walls.  OZ Tap House offers a delicious array of high-quality gastropub-grub bites and meals; nachos, wings, charcuterie, burgers, BBQ, and salads – but save room for their 40 tap wall of awesome.

Obviously, we at Beerventurers are big beer people, so the tap wall is the best selling point.  Their offering was a wonderful mix of both local and out of state brews across all styles.  Would you like a pilsner to go with your charcuterie board? They have two.  How about something darker with that burger?  Two stouts, two porters or even an Irish Red would probably hit that spot.  Need something more adventurous? You’re in luck they have an Austin sourced Kriek beer on draft right now!

To us, OZ Tap House was an experience.  To the people of Austin, this should be a weekly happy hour if it isn’t already.

Wanderlust Wine Company

Ok, we get it. Not all your friends are beer people and sometimes you need to keep them happy too.  Like we mentioned above, Pour My Beer is liquid agnostic – meaning Rosé All Day can be a thing with the right amount of kegs.  Wanderlust Wine Company has you covered in downtown Austin for your wines, meads, and yes – cocktail needs.  The atmosphere of Wanderlust is hipper and more fun than those bland wineries, so beer people you won’t need to act all high-brow and proper.  Want to make your dollar stretch further? Go check them out during Wine Wednesday for 50% off all wines on tap!!!
